Two years after the last edition was held at the Champagne Sports Resort in Central Drakensberg, KwaZulu Natal, the Jeep brand’s most popular off-roading event, Camp Jeep South Africa, comes to Limpopo this year. The countdown has already begun for Camp Jeep SA 2017 scheduled to hold at the Legend Golf and Safari Resort in the Limpopo Province from the September 23 to 25 2017.
Promising to break all time success record, the fifth edition of this family event in South Africa, with fans of the oldest 4×4 brand in the world attending from all over, will be run under the watchful eye of the Jeep Club SA, the local arm of the Jeep Owners Group (JOG) international just as it was done in October 2015.
Camp Jeep SA, the largest gathering of Jeep vehicles, is open to all owners and fans of the 75-year-old brand countrywide as all Jeep vehicles, old and new, will be allowed access to Camp Jeep SA 2017.
The organisers said the Legend Golf and Safari Resort has been strategically chosen for this year’s event owing to the large variety of leisure facilities and activities available in and around the resort, as well as its location, approximately two and a half hours drive from Johannesburg. Camp Jeep attendees will be able to play golf (including the World famous Extreme 19th Hole), mountain bike, hike, quad bike or simply laze around the pool.
Naturally, the primary reason to attend Camp Jeep is the Jeep owners hands-on opportunity to test their vehicle’s (and their own) abilities on several off road tracks as well as participate in the ever-popular “Jeep Games” and “Jeepkhana”. For the braver drivers – and vehicles with low range – off road trails varying from grade three to grade five will also be available in the vicinity of the resort and the neighboring Entabeni Game Reserve, where those with keen eyes may be lucky enough to spot the “Big Five” en-route to the top of the spectacular Ravine Drive.
Camp Jeep will also offer the latest Jeep models at the “Bush Showroom”, as well as a car wash, technical advice and assistance at the ever-popular MOPAR Village “Workshop”.
Catering to those with deep pockets, a retail area will be set up allowing Camp Jeep attendees the opportunity to purchase memorabilia such as shirts and caps as well as other Jeep and off-road related goods including camping equipment, vehicle finance and insurance, as well as everything in-between, according to the organisers.
The main entertainment area at the “Field of Legends” will host Camp Jeep’s main festivities throughout the weekend and is within walking distance of the various off-road tracks purpose-built for the event. Food and beverages will be in constant supply during the course of the weekend and the evening’s festivities will feature several of South Africa’s foremost bands including SA sensation, Beatenberg.
Camp Jeep SA will also ensure the younger members of the Jeep fraternity are kept entertained during the course of the weekend with games and events specifically tailored for them, for those not wanting to join their parents on the 4×4 tracks and trails.
The organisers said accommodation at Camp Jeep SA will be available at Legend Golf and Safari Resort and will comprise five-star luxury on the one hand, or for those more adventurous, “Glamping” is also available. Other accommodation will be available throughout the area at local hotels and Bed and Breakfast venues.
The entrance fee for Camp Jeep covers all Jeep driving events throughout the weekend, as well as certain meals and entertainment.
