Bohr Reisen Takes Delivery of its 125th Mercedes-Benz

On April 6, 2016, the travel operator, Bohr Omnibus GmbH, based in Lautzenhausen, Germany took delivery of its 125th Mercedes-Benz touring coach at the bus plant in Mannheim.

The milestone vehicle, a Travego L, was handed over together with two more Travego coaches that Bohr had ordered on the occasion of the firm’s 30th anniversary.

The symbolic key to the 125th Travego was presented by Rüdiger Kappel, Head of Sales at the Mercedes-Benz Bus and Coach unit, to Günter and Mirco Bohr, managing directors of Bohr Omnibus GmbH.

“The exclusively equipped premium high-decker is the flagship model in the Mercedes-Benz bus and coach range and sets the benchmark for technology in the coach segment. Supreme travel comfort, cutting-edge safety features, the best environmental credentials and dynamic performance characteristics are the hallmark qualities of our current top model. We are delighted that we enjoy such a healthy business relationship with Bohr and congratulate the company on reaching this anniversary,” Rüdiger Kappel remarked at the handover ceremony.

Travego: the epitome of safe, economical travel

Even in standard specification, the Mercedes-Benz Travego high-deck touring coach boasts exemplary environmental and safety technology. When built to Bohr’s specifications, however, the Travego coaches go further still. The models are equipped with all the assistance systems currently available, including for example Active Brake Assist 3 (ABA3), adaptive cruise control (ART), Lane Assistant (SPA), Attention Assist (ATAS), Eco Driver Feedback (EDF), the auxiliary stop-and-go function for the adaptive cruise control, as well as the anticipatory cruise control system Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC). It is clear to see that the travel operator maintains the same high standard of equipment features in the vehicle interior too. From the galley and WC through to the 230V power sockets at the seats and the luxurious Travel Star Xtra (TSX) seating with 5-star seat spacing and Luxline upholstery in leather – these are precisely the sort of equipment details that make a Mercedes-Benz Travego such a hit in the high-end travel market.

Bohr: only the best is good enough

A firm that started out with two buses in 1986 has today grown into one of Germany’s largest and most successful privately owned travel operators: Bohr Omnibus GmbH in Lautzenhausen in the district of Rhein-Hunsrück-Kreis near Koblenz. Run with tremendous energy and commitment, this family business operates regular-service routes as well as school transport and occasional transport services. Bohr also offers coach trips all over Europe. Besides package tours, the firm is increasingly turning its attention to customised tours and VIP trips aboard top-specification coaches, for which luxurious Bundesliga club buses are also deployed. Bohr transports the Bundesliga clubs Mainz 05 and Eintracht Frankfurt in team buses from Mercedes-Benz.

The company history of Bohr is closely intertwined with Mercedes-Benz. The firm’s first touring coach was an O 303 model. As a way of remembering the company’s past, a few years ago the sons Timo and Mirco Bohr purchased an identical O 303 and had both its equipment and design restored to their original state. Today, it is used for extra special excursions. There are currently around 80 vehicles in the firm’s fleet, 95 percent of which bear the Mercedes star.
