VOLKSWAGEN’S PEOPLEPAVILION DRAWS THOUSANDS AT INAUGURAL MARKET DAY

Peter Searle Drive was buzzing with activity as the first-ever Volkswagen Market Day drew 3, 286 people to the PeoplePavilion Saturday, Nov. 28.

Volkswagen employees and the local community were treated to dog shows, a vintage car show, music and entertainment while the little ones were kept busy with face-painting, snow cones, go-karting, paint-ball shooting and 785 rides on the popular VW Factory-Tour vehicle which drove children for laps around the netball court.

The PeoplePavilion field, normally home to VW cricket, rugby, soccer or baseball teams, was packed with over 100 stalls and exhibitors selling everything from custards, beaded necklaces, leather bags, cleaning supplies, clothes, pot-plants and of course mouth-watering South African cuisine and drinks.

Visitors were also given the opportunity to see at first hand the new models recently launched by Volkswagen, namely the Passat, T6 and Caddy, whilst Audi took the opportunity to showcase the new Q7.

The highlight festivities heightened around midday when market-goers got down to the sounds of local artists like DJ Sippy and Afrikaans singer Jakkie Louw who is a two-time SAMA nominee.

‘‘The PeoplePavilion is a facility for our Volkswagen employees and the community. We are incredibly happy with the turnout and we have decided that the Volkswagen Market Day will now be an annual event along with the VW Family Fun Run and the VW Sports Expo’’ said Matt Gennrich, General Manager Group Communications.

The 3, 286 people that came to the Market Day are part of 75, 702 visits at the PeoplePavilion this year alone.
