The Anambra State chapter of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria has expressed great concerns over the activities of motor parks touts and miscreants in the state. It has therefore called on the state governor, Willie Obiano, to commence the arrest of all touts and miscreants in the state’s transport sector.
The state RTEAN chairman, Comrade Celestine Afam-Anere, who made this call, said arresting the miscreants, who have for so long been engaging in illegal collection of monies from motorists, will further boost the revenue profile of the state if RTEAN is fully in charge of the road transport sector of the state.
Afam-Anere urged Gov. Obiano to call to order the illegal collection of monies on a daily basis by a gang in the state, saying the gang has refused to carry out the directive of the state government .
“RTEAN in Anambra State is calling on Gov. Willie Obiano to stop all illegal collection of revenue and dues . These people are touts, miscreants, terrorising our innocent people on the street of Anambra state. The state revenue cannot improve like this, when monies collected by them go into their private pockets,” he said.
Afam-Anere assured the governor of RTEAN’s loyalty, saying the association was ready to collaborate with him in boosting the revenue profile of the state.
