The 2017 Frankfurt Motors Show officially opened to the public this Saturday though the annual show had been opened to the media since September 12 for global premieres of new vehicles by carmakers from across the world. The focus of this year’s event is electric mobility.
Since the opening on Sept. 12, it’s been excitement and fun with the line-up of interesting activities and programmes. The opening media briefing on September 11 was attended by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, President of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), Matthias Wissmann and Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg.
The fascination at the show includes German premieres, European premieres and world premieres as the 67th IAA Cars Show gets set, once again, to host the big names among carmakers and suppliers as they unveil a multitude of secrets and visions. This is no doubt the best time to be in Frankfurt but if you are not there, we bring you a few of the excitement you will be missing.
Automania Teases with Model Cars
The first weekend of the 2017 Frankfurt Motors Show is here as the annual motor show officially opens this Saturday, running until September 24. This weekend, Automania will be teasing visitors with a collection of model cars at its stand in Galleria 1 on the Frankfurt trade show grounds this Saturday and Sunday at the fair for buying, selling and trading miniature cars.
Automania organiser and expert collector, Kai Seehase, said the miniature vehicles are made of various materials such as sheet metal or plastic, in various colors and to scales from 1:87 to 1:18, adding that the Automania is an Eldorado for both children and collectors. The models on offer, according to Seehase, include historical and present-day passenger cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles from every conceivable brand.
The prices, the organiser added, range from one euro to several hundred euros for exceptional items. Visitors also have the opportunity to find spare parts and a wide range of souvenirs: literature and brochures, devotional items from car dealers such as buttons and many other things besides.
Mercedes-Benz me Convention
Mercedes-Benz is seeking to create the future in partnership with South by Southwest (SXSW) at the Mercedes-Benz me Convention which started Friday, September 15 and runs through Sunday, September 17 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
With an international lineup of 150 pioneers, thought leaders, adventurers, artists and game changers, including Buzz Aldrin, Beth Ditto, Sheryl Sandberg, Amber Valletta, Neil Harbisson, Hans Ulrich Obrist, the inspiring workshops at the conference are being handled by the best of the best of our time and will be followed by hackathon, pitches and discussions .
The evenings feature entertainment at its best: concerts by world-famous musicians, parties, culinary delights and exhibitions in Frankfurt’s up-and-coming Bahnhofsviertel district – exclusively organised for me Convention community!
BMW Fires the starting gun on product offensive
