Dubai to host IRF forward-looking roads and mobility congress

Dubai is looking forward  to hosting more than 1,000 transportation leaders who will converge on the city from October 29-31, 2017 for a forward-looking and business-friendly International Road Federation (IRF) Middle East & North Africa Regional Congress & Exhibition, themed “Mobility Solutions for the 21st Century”, a statement issued by the IRF has said.

With a focus on cutting-edge innovation and an unrivalled portfolio of mobility projects, Dubai offers an inspiring setting to discuss innovations in transportation engineering, smart cities, and connected vehicles. Dubai recently announced a goal for 25 percent of all transportation trips to be smart and driverless by 2030.

The Congress, according to the statement, will also offer delegates an opportunity to share research and acquire essential skills in designing and operating safer and more resilient road networks through more than 60 sessions and training workshops aimed at highlighting effective policies and field-tested solutions.

“This IRF Congress is happening at a time of concerted efforts by leaders throughout the GCC and wider MENA region to provide coordinated road networks and services that are capable of supporting the region’s economic integration agenda. It is an essential meeting place to present innovations and a must-attend opportunity for transportation professionals,” the statement quoted IRF Chairman, Abdullah A. Al-Mogbel, as saying.

It added that His Excellency, Mattar Al Tayer, chairman of host organisation Dubai Roads & Transport Authority, has welcomed the Congress, saying  “Dubai is at a crossroads as we seek to select appropriate technical choices and funding models behind these programs. This Congress could not come at a better time for international road professionals to forge lasting bonds with our planners and engineers.”
