Coscharis-Renault assembly plant inaugurated in Lagos

Nigeria, last Thursday, joined Algeria and Morroco as African hosts of the French auto giant, Renault, as the country’s leading multi-brands dealership, Coscharis Motors, launched the Coscharis-Renault assembly plant at the Lekki headquarters of the Coscharis Group in Lagos.

The occasion marked the return of Renault into the country’s automobile market after a few years of absence.

The President, Coscharis Group, Dr. Cosmas Maduka, expressed great happiness at the inauguration of the assembly plant, saying it was the culmination of months of preparations by the Coscharis and Renault teams. He added that it was an expression of confidence by the French auto giant in the economy of Nigeria.

On his part, the Coscharis Group Managing Director, Josiah Samuel, was full of praises for his team members as well as the representatives of Renault for making the project a reality even as he expressed great appreciation to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was represented at the ceremony as well as the United States Consul General, who was also at the event.

French ambassador in Nigeria, Jerome Pasquier,described the event as a landmark for French-Nigerian relations, moreso as it came just a year after French President Emmanuel Macron visited the country.

Renault’s Vice-chairman and Regional Manager for Africa-Middle East-India (AMI), Fabrice Cambolive,led a powerful delegation from the company’s headquarters in France to the ceremony that was also attended by top Nigerian government officials, banks’ chiefs and representatives of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN).

Coscharis President, Maduka, led dignatories at the event on an inspection tour of the facility where two Renault models- Logan and Duster- would be assembled .

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed at the the ceremony between Renault and the Coscharis Group.
