The BMW Group, Wednesday, announced some personnel changes in its design team with the hiring of Skoda design executive, Jozef Kabaň, to be responsible for design of the core BMW brand, while Domagoj Dukec, was promoted to head the design team for BMW i and BMW M vehicles. The announcement, which is contained in a statement issued in Munich, said the new design team will still be led by Adrian van Hooydonk who is the Group Chief Designer
The statement said Jozef Kabaň, 44, from Slovakia, will be joining the BMW Group design team after holding various positions in the Volkswagen Group, while Domagoj Dukec, 41, has been with the BMW Group since 2010, where his responsibilities have included exterior design for the BMW brand and, most recently, BMW i design
“I am looking forward to this strengthening of the BMW Group design team,” the statement quoted Adrian van Hooydonk as saying, adding “Both Jozef Kabaň and Domagoj Dukec bring the experience, talent and vision we need for the future direction of our design.”
Karim Habib, who was responsible for BMW brand design, had previously left the company of his own accord.
“We naturally respect Karim Habib’s decision and wish him every success in his new business endeavours,” Adrian van Hooydonk added.
Kaban, according to Autonews, first made a name for himself in his 20s when he designed the Bugatti Veyron, a 1 million-euro plus supercar created under VW Group’s then-CEO, Ferdinand Piech. Autonews said at 35, Kaban was already in charge of Skoda’s design as the promotion came in early 2008 when he was at VW Group sister brand Audi, where he was head of exterior design.
