History was made Tuesday in Lagos, southwest Nigeria, as Ford Motors and one of its two dealerships in the country, Coscharis Motors, unveiled the first Ford Ranger assembled in Nigeria .
At the event which was attended by top officials of Ford Sub Sahara Africa (SSA) from South Africa and Coscharis bigwigs, the announcement of the progress work on the Ranger Pick-up Truck Assembly Plant in Nigeria was made.
Speaking at the event which held at the Coscharis Ford Showroom, Lekki, Lagos, President of the Coscharis Group, Dr. Vincent Maduka, described the event as the fulfillment of the earlier promise and commitment made by his company earlier in the year.
On the Pick-up Truck Assembly, Maduka said: “We are out to send a standard by which other auto dealers will be judged. This is the promise we made at inception 17 years ago when we started business. Today, we’ve set the standard in auto assembly. Our Ford partners have heeded our call on this and made this possible.
“Ford has assisted us with all technical support as we train our local assembly plant staff. We’ve also commenced a physical planning of the plant in Lekki and it will be launched in 2016.
“When completed, the plant will have more Rangers coming off the line and create employment opportunities for Nigerians as we are committed to continue to add value to the auto sector.”
