Volvo Construction Equipment taps Melker Jernberg as new President

Volvo Construction Equipment has tapped  Melker Jernberg as its new President. A statement issued by the Volvo Group on Monday said Jernberg, who is currently, President and CEO of  Sweden-based powder metallurgy company,   Höganäs AB., is expected to assume the position on January 1, 2018  to replace Martin Weissburg, who is  moving  back to the US to take up a position as Senior Advisor to Volvo’s President and CEO, Martin Lundstedt.

Jernberg will also be a member of the Volvo Group Executive Board.

Born in 1968, Melker Jernberg was the Executive Vice President and Head of Business Area EMEA at Sweden-based steel manufacturer SSAB before joining Hoganas AB.

Speaking on the development, President and CEO of the Volvo Group,  Lundstedt, was quoted in the statement as saying: “Martin Weissburg has through his strong leadership been key to considerably improve the performance of Volvo Construction Equipment and he will continue to have senior positions within the Volvo Group,” adding “ Martin Weissburg will remain in his position until year end 2017 and will take up his new position as Senior Advisor to me during the course of Q1 2018.”
