TOYOTA SOUTH AFRICA APPOINTS ANDREW KIRBY AS EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT/COO

Toyota South Africa Motors has announced the appointment of Andrew Kirby, Senior Vice President of Corporate Administration, to the position of the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM).

In his new position, Andrew Kirby, according to a statement, will oversee all operational aspects of the company’s vibrant automotive business from planning and production to sales and marketing. Kirby, the statement added, will also have a direct reporting line to Dr. van Zyl, President and CEO Toyota South Africa.

“Andrew‘s multifaceted experience in the automotive industry in South Africa and abroad made him the ideal candidate for this role,” said Dr. Johan van Zyl, President and CEO of Toyota South Africa.

Kirby was also at the helm of the Sales and Marketing division since 2005 for six years before moving to Japan in the capacity of General Manager: Marketing and Planning for Lexus at Toyota Motor Corporation. In the Lexus position, Kirby focused on global marketing and planning initiatives for the Lexus brand.

Upon his return to TSAM in July 2013, he assumed the role of Senior Vice President of Corporate Administration. This position encompassed Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology as well as Corporate Affairs and Corporate Planning.

“I would like to congratulate him on his promotion and wish him all the best. I am confident that he has both the knowledge and the experience to contribute to the future development of Toyota in South Africa,” Dr van Zyl said.
