Toyota honours nine winners of Dream Car Art Contest 2017

Nine winners, who emerged in the 11th edition of the Toyota Dream Car Art Contest organised by Toyota (Nigeria) Limited (TNL), have been honored by the company. Two of the winners, who were recently honored at the award of prize and certificate ceremony which held at the corporate headquarters of TNL in Lekki, Lagos, came from Port-Harcourt while the other seven were from Lagos.  

The winners, who were entertained along with their parents, teachers and well-wishers at the ceremony, went home with laptops, other corporate gifts and a winner’s certificate each.

They emerged from each of the three categories – under 8 years’ old, 8-11 years and 12-15 years – of the competition in which 297 children participated in Abuja, 266 in Port-Harcourt and 559  in Lagos. While three winners emerged from each category in Port-Harcourt, Abuja and Lagos centres, three national finalists emerged from each category after a rigorous assessment of entries from the three drawing centres.  All the winning entries were judged based on the originality, creativity, environmental friendliness, safety and futuristic concept in their drawings.

 In attendance at the ceremony were the Managing Director of Toyota (Nigeria) Limited, Mr. Kunle Ade-Ojo; Head of Marketing Department, Mr. Andrew Ajuyah;  Marketing Manager, Mr. Bayo Olawoyin and the Public Relations Manager, Mrs. Bukunola Ogunnusi.

 While Ogunnusi briefly introduced the winners, the Managing Director, Ade-Ojo, gave a welcome speech, thanking everyone for attending the event and even as he congratulated the winners for their feat, disclosing that one of the winners in the 2018 contest will be sponsored by Toyota (Nigeria) Limited to visit Japan.

 The winners gave presentation of their drawings, which explains the concept of their drawings respectively, and also urged Toyota to manufacture their dream car in the future.  

 In a vote of thanks, one of the winners, Ifunanya Nwankwo, who spoke on behalf of the nine winners, expressed appreciation for the occasion and  expressed gratitude to the Managing Director and Toyota (Nigeria) Limited for the opportunity given to them to demonstrate their talents.   

The Toyota Dream Car Art Contest is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) Japan to develop the innate artistic talent in children and to cultivate an enduring relationship with them.Toyota distributors and dealers alike globally have keyed into this initiative because of its acceptance and impact on children’s psyche the world over.

The 11th Dream Car Art Contest was held in Nigeria on February 11, 2017 in Abuja and Port-Harcourt respectively, and in Lagos on February 25, 2017. Children came from different schools and states to share their concepts about the future of mobility by drawing their dream cars in the contest.
