Tejas Networks Limited, a global optical & data networking company of Indian origin with over 400,000 products deployed in 65+ countries around the world, has unfolded its grand plan for the Nigerian market.
Mr. Arnob Roy, Co-founder, Tejas Networks Limited, elaborated on the company’s plans while speaking on the sidelines of the 4th Indo-African ICT Expo, which was held in Lagos last week.
“We are a publicly listed company in India that designs, develops and manufactures state-of-the-art telecommunication products for India and the world. We are currently #1 in India’s highly competitive optical aggregation market and are rapidly expanding our international presence. When we started developing our international business, we realized that the products that we were selling in India were equally appealing in terms of its features and capabilities to telecom customers in Nigeria and other African countries. One of the reasons for coming to Nigeria, Africa and other emerging markets was the opportunity to actively participate and contribute to the development of these telecom markets which are currently growing at a scorching pace. ”
“Nigeria is an emerging economy like India and there is a growing demand for advanced communication technologies and high quality ICT products. The country is witnessing significant investments in broadband networks and digital infrastructure both by the government and private operators. And with our strong experience in providing and implementing similar solutions in India, we saw significant synergies between the two markets.” Mr. Roy explained.
Mr. Roy disclosed that with over six years of operation in the Nigerian market, Tejas Networks, an optical and data networking products company, which designs and develops market leading products in the Optical Networking and Broadband Access (4G LTE, GPON) segments, is already in discussions with the Nigerian Government on its grand plan for the country.
“We already have an office in Nigeria with local employees for sales and support. But we would like to establish a much larger presence in the country and are in talks with the Nigerian Government in this regard. As a part of building these world-class networks, we’ll also develop ICT skill development centres and local manufacturing facilities. Thus we want to ensure that every Tejas product deployed in Nigeria will also be locally assembled here. There will be trained people who know how to assemble, deploy and provide network support. All of these investments will come as part of our partnership with the Nigerian Government and help in growing the ICT sector.”
“We are currently in talks with the Communication Ministry. The Honorable Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu who was at this Expo had also visited our facilities in India earlier. During his India visit, we had an opportunity to show him a real-life demonstration of our products and technologies working in live pan-India networks across the country. I think he is highly motivated to build similar networks in Nigeria and we would be very happy to be of assistance. However, he is also clear that the relationship has to go beyond mere sale and deployment of products in Nigeria and there should be additional value created through local capacity building and job creation. We truly appreciate Honorable Minister’s vision and are looking forward to establish a “win-win” relationship with Nigeria and be a true partner in the country’s progress in the ICT sector.” Mr. Roy stated.
