SUBARU RECALLS 2004 – 2007 WRX AND IMPREZA MODELS OVER DEFECTIVE TAKATA AIRBAGS

Subaru Southern Africa announced on Tuesday that it is recalling the 2004 – 2007 Subaru Impreza and WRX models for safety inspections and potential replacement of the front passenger airbag modules because of the recent news of Takata’s potentially defective airbags.

According to a statement obtained by AUTO REPORT AFRICA, owners of these models are currently being contacted by Subaru Southern Africa to arrange convenient inspections and replacement where necessary.

The company also advised owners of the affected models to check whether their vehicles are affected via an easy VIN-checker on the Subaru Southern Africa website, stressing that owners need to simply input their vehicle identification number (VIN) to know if their vehicles are affected or not.

Marketing Manager of Subaru Southern Africa Ashley Lazarus, said: “vehicle safety is in our DNA and we take any defects such as these quite seriously, so we’re assisting affected customers as quickly and conveniently as possible to ensure continuous Confidence in Motion.”
