Subaru drives breast cancer awareness, partners with Pinkdrive

To mark the Women Month in South Africa, Subaru Southern Africa is partnering with PinkDrive, this August, to drive further awareness, education and prevention of breast cancer.

In line with the partnership, Subaru Southern African said it would donate R5000 to PinkDrive on every new Subaru and 2016 Demo Subaru registered and sold in August.

Subaru said its key focus is saving lives and this partnership represents another step in taking this commitment further. Marketing Manager of Subaru Southern Africa, Ashley Lazarus, sees this initiative as a significant step in not only working to improve and save lives, but also as a key commitment to Subaru Southern Africa’s entrenchment in the South African market.

“We want to drive the change in saving lives, not just in a motoring context, but in as many other ways as we can. The work that PinkDrive is doing with women across South Africa is just phenomenal and we resonate with everything for which they stand,” he said in a statement obtained by AUTO REPORT AFRICA.

The statement said the entire South African dealer network stands behind this initiative, and all new Subaru models as well as 2016 registered demo Subaru models will qualify for this initiative. It added that customers who purchase these cars will each receive an official letter acknowledging and pledging that R5000 will be donated to PinkDrive as a result of the customer purchase.

PinkDrive has been working with women since October 2011 when the first mobile screening unit was launched. It currently has representation in Pretoria, Johannesburg and Kwazulu-Natal working with clinics, schools and community health centres.

According to the statement, a full disclosure of sales numbers and money donated will be made available to PinkDrive at the end of the campaign for transparency and audit purposes.

Subaru said the partnership is basically on Breast Cancer Prevention, which is in line with PinkDrive’s motto, ‘Early Detection Saves Lives’, which stands true in the motor industry as well.
