Stallion Motors Delivers 700 Ashok Leyland Troops Carrying Vehicles to Nigerian Armed Forces

  • Offers Training to Military Engineers on Usage, Maintenance.

Stallion Motors has delivered 700 locally-produced Ashok Leyland Troops Carrying Vehicles to the Nigerian Armed Forces. The vehicles, which were commissioned virtually on Friday by President Muhammadu Buhari, were procured by the Nigerian military following the Executive Order Number 5  which mandated Federal Government Agencies and parastatals to patronise made-in-Nigeria products. It was also part of the ongoing  partnership between the private sector and the military.

Speaking at the virtual commissioning, President Buhari said: “I am pleased to be invited here today as the Special Guest of honour at the commissioning of the 700 Ashok Leyland Troops Carrying Vehicles, procured by the Federal Government of Nigeria. These vehicles, I understand, were assembled by Stallion Motors Limited at Ojo, Lagos.

“This is an important milestone in the annals of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, especially the troops engaged in operations in various theatres. This demonstrates the commitment and importance the Federal Government attaches to the fight against insurgency, criminalities and welfare of personnel.”

The president also expressed gratitude to the Minister of Defence, Maj. Gen. Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd), Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor and Armed Forces personnel for the milestone achievements in he war against insurgency in the country.

In his remarks at the ceremony, the Minister of Defence, Magashi,  said the country’s security remains a top priority for the government as he assured that the supplies and welfare of the military will be sustained.

He explained that the vehicles were procured following the  Executive Order Number 5 as he maintained that the partnership between the private sector and the military had translated into the delivery of better equipment for more precision and efficiency of security operations.

Magashi disclosed that Stallion Motors had  also offered training to the military engineers  on usage and maintenance of the vehicles.
