Oyeyemi congratulates Muslims on Eid-El-Fitri, urges use of passengers’ rear-seat belts

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Boboye Oyeyemi, has congratulated Muslim faithful in Nigeria as they join their counterparts across the world for the celebration of Eid-El-Fitri.

This followed the formal announcement of the sighting of the moon of Shawwal by the Sultan of Sokoto and President of the Nigeria Supreme Council For Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Saad Abubakar 111, and termination of Ramadan fast.

The Corps Marshal, in a statement signed by Bisi Kazeem, Head of Media Relations and Strategy, FRSC, congratulated the Muslims for successfully completing the month of Ramadan which, according to him, was devoted to sacrifice, prayer and devotion.

He said such spirit should be sustained beyond the month, for peaceful co-existence, safety and security among the people.

Noting that the month of Ramadan provides opportunity for Muslims to show devotion to God, seek His blessings and show compassion to the less privileged members of the society, the Corps Marshal enjoined them to sustain these goodness by being considerate to other road users while using the road during the celebration and beyond.

“Ramadan was a period of self purification, love and showing of compassion for the less privileged members of the society,” he stated.

“I seize this opportunity to felicitate with the entire Muslims on this occasion of Eid-El-Fitri celebration and appeal to all motorists to use the road with utmost care by avoiding dangerous driving, speed violation and other traffic offences such as phoning while driving and overloading.

“All drivers and passengers including the front and rear seat passengers must always belt up while riding in a moving vehicle during the celebration and beyond. Motorists must particularly endeavour to check their tyres to ensure that they are neither fake, overinflated nor underinflated.”
