OMODA’s Semi-Finalist Nomination in CarsAwards Boosts Recognition for Excellence in Compact Family Segment

OMODA, the new premium vehicle brand, has announced the nomination of the OMODA C5 1.5T 230T Lux S as a semi-finalist in the highly regarded Cars.co.za Consumer Awards (CarsAwards) within the compact family division. CarsAwards is widely recognised as the definitive guide for purchasing new vehicles in South Africa.

Tony Liu, Executive Deputy General Manager at OMODA SA, highlights the significance of the nomination, stating, “What sets the  CarsAwards apart is their unique approach of not only relying on assessments from motoring experts and journalists but also involving consumers directly in the voting process.

Over a 6-month period, feedback from actual South African car owners is combined with rigorous testing conducted by local judges to determine the best new cars in South Africa. This process equips prospective car buyers with comprehensive insights to aid their selection of vehicles for purchase consideration.”

OMODA has quickly gained recognition in the automotive industry, accumulating several awards since its launch earlier this year:

  • The OMODA C5  recently was awarded the esteemed five-star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), underscoring OMODA’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety, and
  • OMODA’s latest creation, the OMODA C9 won a prestigious Gold Award at the 2023 International Design Awards (IDA) held in Los Angeles, California.

Liu further elaborates on the OMODA C5’s distinctive attributes, saying, “The OMODA C5 offers the perfect blend of form and function. It seamlessly integrates cutting-edge automotive technology with premium interior styling, wrapped within a safe vehicle featuring futuristic sleek curves, all while remaining affordable.” The OMODA C5’s price range starts from R447,900 and goes up to R509,900 for the top-tier 1.5T Elegance S model.

Within the urban SUV category, the OMODA C5 stands out with an array of impressive features, including dual 10.25″ screens, ambient lighting, intelligent voice command, wireless charging, dual-zone automatic A/C, and powered sport seats. The vehicle comes with a reassuring 10-year/1,000,000 km engine warranty.

Liu concludes, “We firmly believe that the OMODA C5 truly embodies our philosophy of ‘Art in Motion’, and we are delighted to have been shortlisted for this incredible accolade.”

The popular awards covers 13 categories and puts dozens of new vehicles through extensive testing, culminating in the announcement of winners in February 2024.
