NNPC: Kachikwu Not Sacked as GMD, Still in Control

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has described as untrue a report that its Group Managing Director, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, has been replaced by President Muhammadu Buhari.

A report earlier published and circulated on Friday said the Group Executive Director, Exploration, Dr. Maikanti Baru, had been appointed as the new GMD.

However, the Group General Manager, Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, Garba-deen Mohammed, said the news was ‘completely false.’

“The story is completely false. It should be ignored by all Nigerians,” he told Premium Times.

“The minister is currently in his office and has continued to function in the roles assigned to him by the president.”
