Nissan Tickles Motoring Journalists at Immersive Nissan Next Experience in South Africa

In celebration of the passion embodied by a journey that began in 2021 with the start of production of ‘the toughest vehicle that Nissan has ever made’, Nissan South Africa recently hosted an exclusive #NissanNextExperience for media partners and stakeholders – taking them on a journey in celebration of its models; the locally produced new Nissan Navara and trend-setting Nissan Magnite.

From a drive beginning in the bustling Johannesburg city traffic to the rugged dirt roads of Hartbeespoort: the journey served as a platform to showcase the Magnite and Navara’s features.

Produced in Rosslyn’s manufacturing plant, less than twelve months ago, the Navara has been recognised as a finalist in the in the 4 x 4 Double Cab segment of the ‘Car of the Year’ awards.

The Nissan Navara is packed with Nissan Intelligent Motoring (NIM) features and is built with the capability to withstand the diverse driving conditions of South Africa and Africa. The 5-link coil rear suspension enables drivers to make the most of any terrain, providing a comfortable and stable ride. The trend-setting Nissan Magnite also featured at the event, showcasing the valuable lifestyle features that Nissan offers to the B-SUV market.

During his address, Nissan South Africa Marketing Director Stefan Haasbroek, reiterated that the Navara builds on the 60 year heritage of building reliable light commercial vehicles. 

A fact supported by Nissan South Africa Managing Director Kabelo Rabotho, “with a full product line-up, the Nissan Navara is set to cater to our customers’ diverse needs. Furthermore, the local production means we can continue to contribute positively to our communities and country at large”. 

With the Navara being key to Nissan’s expansion strategy across Africa, it will continue to play a role in redefining the continent’s manufacturing landscape. “With manufacturing hubs in South Africa and Egypt, assembly plants in Nigeria and most recently, Ghana, the light commercial vehicle will reach our markets in West and East Africa. We celebrate the Nissan Navara as a finalist in its ‘Car of the Year’ awards segment,” concluded Mike Whitfield, Nissan Africa‘s Managing Director.

Nissan’s Africa Regional Business Unit in Africa serves 42 markets on the continent. In total, the company offers a range of 24 vehicles to retail and commercial customers in the region. South Africa serves as a light-commercial vehicle manufacturing hub for the region with its Rosslyn plant northwest of Pretoria producing the NP200, NP300 and forthcoming all-new Nissan Navara. The South Africa plant employs approximately 2000 employees with additional assembly plants located in Nigeria and Ghana.
