The BMW Group South Africa is set to unveil the seventh generation of the BMW 5 Series. The unveiling, according to Edward Makwana, the Group Product Communications Manager (PR/Media Relations Manager) at BMW Group South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa , is scheduled to hold with a two-day National Media Launch in George and Knysna in the Western Cape Province of the country this Thursday and Friday.
Described as ‘The Business Athlete,’ the all-new seventh-generation BMW 5 Series is coming almost seven years after its predecessor, the sixth generation of the BMW 5 Series, was launched in 2010.
It will be recalled that since 1972, the BMW 5 Series has delivered a unique combination of engine performance, handling and everyday drivability and practicality. Through five previous generations – each of which was named as arguably “The Best Car in the World” at some stage in its lifespan – the BMW 5 Series has been the epitome of the executive express.
And when the sixth generation of the BMW 5 Series was launched in 2010, it continued to uphold the reputation of this important BMW model lineup by being the best in class in terms of design, driving dynamics and efficiency. As a result, it became the most successful BMW 5 Series generation to date, also clearly leading the world’s bestseller lists in the segment for the last six years.
Compared with the previous generation, sales of the sixth generation BMW 5 Series, according to the German luxury car maker, have even risen by more than 42 percent.
