MERCEDES-BENZ MUSEUM RENEWS PARTNERSHIP WITH INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF ANIMATED FILM

The Mercedes-Benz Museum has confirmed that it will once again act as a premium sponsor of the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS). With its focus on animated film, the Festival is one of the key global events in the field of cinematic culture.

“This extension of the partnership gives rise to excellent synergies. The Mercedes-Benz Museum offers ITFS the perfect stage for animated film and, with 130 years of automotive history, enough material for some thrilling stories. We look forward not only to welcoming film-loving visitors, but also to receiving creative entries for our special prize, which takes up the Museum’s motto of “A Future Always Needs A Past”, Alexandra Süss, a member of the management of the Mercedes-Benz Museum, said in a statement obtained by AUTO REPORT AFRICA.

This year, the International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) will take place from 26 April to 1 May 2016. From 27 April until the end of the Festival, the Mercedes-Benz Museum will again act as the film stage for the “Best of Tricks for Kids” with selected animation movies for a young target group. In addition, the young visitors will have an opportunity at expertly led workshops to show off their creative ideas and make their own animated films. In keeping with the tenth anniversary of the Museum, the theme of the “Tricks for Kids” workshops will be: “Build Your Museum”.

One of the highlights will be the prize-giving gala at the “Animated Com Award” on 29 April 2016 at the Mercedes-Benz Museum. The award will be presented in various categories in recognition of outstanding works of applied animation. The Mercedes-Benz Museum is offering a special prize “A Future Always Needs A Past – Communication and Networking in a Mobile World”. Voting will start in March, for the first time in the form of a public vote on the Museum’s homepage and Facebook page. Also for the first time, the Mercedes-Benz Museum will have its own stand at Schlossplatz in Stuttgart.

On the renewal of the sponsorship, Alexandra Süss, member of the management of the Mercedes-Benz Museum, said : “The extension of the partnership gives rise to some excellent synergies. The Mercedes-Benz Museum offers the ITFS the perfect stage for animated film and, with 130 years of automotive history, sufficient material for some thrilling stories. On his part, Dittmar Lumpp, commercial director of the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS), said:

“We are happy to continue our successful cooperation with the Mercedes Benz Museum. Since 2012 the Mercedes-Benz Museum has been an ideal and creative premium partner of the ITFS. The joint project initiative is enthusiastically received by the public, allowing us to look optimistically to the future.”

Prof. Ulrich Wegenast, artistic director of the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS), said: “For the ITFS, the continuation of the partnership once again offers the chance to jointly explore the facets of animated film in its many different guises – from children’s cartoons to technologically innovative animation. The special prize on offer from the Mercedes Benz Museum, “A Future Always Needs A Past”, shows the close link between personal mobility and animation in a digital world.”
