Lagos Secures Approval for New Airport on Lekki-Epe Axis

The Lagos State Government on Thursday unveiled its plan to construct a new airport on the Lekki-Epe axis of the State, saying it had already secured approval from the Nigerian Federal Government.  

Special Adviser to the State Governor on Public Private Partnerships (PPP), Ope George, who made the disclosure at a media briefing hosted at the State Government Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, said the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led government in the state had sought and obtained approval from the Federal Government for the construction of the new airport in Lagos. He disclosed that the project, which is expected to take off in 2023 will be constructed on 3,500 hectares of land.

George however noted that the master plan and aeronautical designs are already  in place while studies are ongoing about strategies, funding and other issues, following which the project will be taken to the market place.

The Special Adviser disclosed that the airport, which is expected to cater to a minimum of five million people yearly, will be constructed in partnership with local and foreign investors.
