JAGUAR LAND ROVER REPORTS BEST EVER OCTOBER SALES PERFORMANCE

Jaguar Land Rover, the UK’s leading manufacturer of premium luxury vehicles has reported best ever October retail sales of 41,553 vehicles, up 24 per cent on October 2014. The company sold 390,965 vehicles in the first ten months of 2015, 2 per cent up on the same period in the prior year.

Retail sales for the month of October were 40 per cent up year-on-year in the UK, 74 percent up in North America, 24 percent up in Europe and 9 percent up in China.  Other overseas markets were down 5 percent for the month, reflecting the challenging macro-economic environment in countries such as Russia and Brazil.

Commenting on the performance in a statement , Andy Goss, Jaguar Land Rover Group Sales Operations Director said: “Our October performance has been driven by very positive market response to the Jaguar XE and Land Rover Discovery Sport, as well as a solid increase in sales of the Range Rover Sport, Land Rover Discovery and Range Rover.

“Regional retail sales growth was strong, with USA and UK having their best ever October and Europe significantly up on last year.  It is also encouraging to see overall sales in China picking up again, reflecting increased demand for the Range Rover Sport and Range Rover, as well as start of sales of the Jaguar XE.

“With the new Jaguar XF and 16 Model Year XJ joining our line-up and orders now being taken for the F-PACE in UK and Europe, our ambitious ongoing expansion and refresh of our product portfolio will continue to grow sales in the coming months.”

Marking its best October yet, Land Rover retailed 34,086 vehicles in the month, up 21 percent year-on-year. Calendar year-to-date sales reached 323,353 vehicles, 2% up on the prior year.  Best-sellers for the month included the Range Rover Sport, 40% up year-on-year, the Land Rover Discovery, 41% up, and the Range Rover, which was 21% up on the previous year.  The new Discovery Sport continues to grow in popularity, with retails of 7,182 in the month.  Local production of the Discovery Sport for the Chinese market began in September, with retail sales to begin by the end of the year.

Jaguar delivered 7,467 vehicles in the month, up 39% on October 2014. Calendar year-to-date sales were 67,612, down 1% year-on-year.  Europe and UK recorded outstanding year-on-year growth of 150% and 64%, respectively, for the month of October and retails in the Overseas region were 27% up year-on-year.  Sales of the new Jaguar XE were 3,515 for the month, with a total of 15,716 retailed since sales began in the summer.  This new mid-sized sports saloon has recently joined the line-up in China and will go on sale in the USA in spring 2016.
