Geely ‘Coolray’ compact SUV hits the roads in Nigeria

All appears set for Geely to finally take its pride of place in the highly competitive Nigerian automobile market with its stylish and sporty passenger cars and compact Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV) after intense preparations that lasted over a year. Already, pre-sale orders have opened and local representatives of Geely, Mikano International Nigeria, is not leaving anything to chances.

Preparations for the maintenance and after-sales service of the new brand in the Nigerian market have also been completed with the accreditation of reputable garages in Lagos and Abuja as approved service centres attached to Geely dealers.

One of such garages in Abuja is the popular Autolady Garage, a world-class and all-inclusive automobile garage, operated  by Engr. Joyce Daser-Adams, the first female mechanic in northern Nigeria. Autolady Garage has its head office at Dutse-Alhaji with a new Autolady Quick Service & Diagnostics Centre at Lebrex Plaza, by Peace Mass transit, Utako, FCT Abuja. Geely cars are already on display at the two Autolady Garage outlets.

Meanwhile, free and exclusive test drives are also being arranged to enable Nigerians have a feel of the locally-assembled Geely cars.. Flaunting quite amazing offers for its new generation cars, including free premium comprehensive insurance cover; five-year warranty/150,000 kilometres (whichever comes first) as well as free one-year  full service. Geely, surely, appears set  to compete favourably for its fair share of the Nigerian auto market.

At a recent test-drive organised for a group of auto journalists at its assembly plant in Ogun State, Marketing Manager, Geely Nigeria,  Mrs. Karima Okunola, disclosed that the Geely Coolray was on course to becoming the most tech-filled, best in class crossover SUV on Nigerian roads as she maintained that  Mikano International and Geely Global had teamed up to build affordable cars in Nigeria as a way of  revitalising  the country’s automotive industry.

According to Okunola, “Geely Global is China’s largest independent automaker and the owners of Volvo Autos, the largest shareholder in AG Daimler (parent company for Mercedes Benz). With its launch, the Coolray, today, becomes the coolest and most tech-filled, best in class crossover SUV on Nigerian roads. The Coolray sports an impressive array of exceptional tech features and an innovative design built on Geely’s global – leading architecture – The B-segment Modular Architecture.”

Geely Nigeria is launching the Coolray into the Nigerian market in two trims – the Coolray Dynamic GS and Coolray Sport + GF.

The Coolray, which accelerates from zero to 100km/h in 7.9 seconds, comes with a 1.5L turbo-charged direct-injection petrol engine, which produces 177ps at 5,500rpm.   Coolray is also flaunting  a pre-sale offer that comes with one-year premium comprehensive insurance and one-year free full service for the first 50 buyers.

“Geely Nigeria is opening a window of opportunity that makes premium experience a standard option with the Coolray.  In addition, all Geely Nigeria cars come with a five-year/150,000km warranty, financing options/payment plans via our banking partners, readily available parts, world-class after-sales service and guaranteed resale value,” Geely Nigeria also said in a statement.
