FRSC to Create Driver’s Licence Centre at National Assembly Complex

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said it is planning to create a Driver’s Licence Centre at the National Assembly complex in Abuja. The Corps said the proposed Centre, which will complement the activities of its Command at the Assembly Complex, will address the licensing needs of the Legislators and the staff of the National Assembly.

The Corps Marshal, FRSC, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, disclosed this Wednesday during a visit to the Clerk of the National Assembly, Alhaji Sani-Omolori, saying the Centre would boost the ongoing efforts by the Corps to reduce the stress associated with acquiring genuine licences. He, therefore, requested for an office space within the Assembly Complex to accommodate the Driver’s Licence Centre.

FRSC and the National Assembly also resolved to ensure closer collaboration in view of the need for more effective traffic management at the Assembly complex due to the increasing vehicular traffic in the complex. The National Assembly, therefore, promised to enhance the operations of the Corps by providing necessary logistics support for the Corps to facilitate its effectiveness at the Assembly complex.

Sani-Omolori assured the Corps Marshal of the continuous support of the leadership of the National Assembly and the Legislators in the area of compliance with the relevant traffic rules and regulations to avoid friction between the FRSC staff and those that operate within the premises.

The Corps Marshal, who was accompanied on the visit by  some principal officers of the FRSC, including the Deputy Corps Marshals in charge of Operations, Training, Motor Vehicle Administration, Special Duties and Partnership and the Special Assistant to the Corps Marshal, expressed gratitude to Sani-Omolori for the support FRSC has enjoyed from the leadership of the National Assembly, saying he was committed to sustaining the operations of the FRSC at the complex in order to address some of the traffic management challenges .
