Fiat Group SA Gets New CEO/Managing Director

Fiat Group Automobiles South Africa (Pty) Ltd, importer of Fiat, Fiat Professional, Abarth and Alfa Romeo brand vehicles locally and Chrysler South Africa (Pty) Ltd, importer of Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge brand has announced the appointment of Marco Melani as its new CEO and Managing Director.

Marco assumed responsibility of his new role effective March, 1, 2016 as he succeeded Trent Barcroft, the former CEO and MD. The highly experienced Melani joined the FCA South African team after his last assignment as Head of Marketing for the MEA region, having been with the FCA group for the past 14 years. He brings with him global experience and knowledge from within the automotive industry.

In a statement obtained by AUTO REPORT AFRICA, FCA South Africa’s new CEO said, “I am thrilled to have joined the team at such an exciting phase of the companies life cycle and remain committed to the growth and development of the FCA group and its dealer network within the challenges of a competitive landscape in South Africa.

“The exciting prospect of new model introductions in the near future will see the company enter into new vehicle segments , the focus will be on ensuring that we continue to provide our customers with vehicles that speak to their unique and individual lifestyles.”

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), the seventh-largest automaker in the world, designs, engineers, manufactures and sells passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, components and production systems worldwide.
