Dr. Johan van Zyl: We’ve lost a great industry leader – NADA

The National Automobile Dealers’ Association  (NADA) has described the passing  of the executive chairperson, Toyota South Africa Motors, Dr.  Johan van Zyl, as a great loss to the industry.  Dr. van Zyl died on July 30, 2021 at 63, leaving a great mark in the South African Motor industry.

 In an official condolence message issued over his death , NADA said: “It is difficult to find suitable words to pay tribute to this truly remarkable man. It is fortunate that during his life he had the satisfaction of knowing the high esteem in which he was held by his colleagues and the broader industry. His inspiring leadership has created a company with an enviable reputation both in South Africa and abroad. As we reflect on the high standards he advocated, we are reminded of the many benefits dealers, as well as the broader automotive ecosystem, have enjoyed. He was a true inspiration to many who had the privilege to know and work with him.

“The National Automobile Dealers’ Association sends its deepest condolences to Dr van Zyl’s family at this difficult time. The automotive industry mourns with you and celebrates this remarkable man, who’s knowledge and expertise were evident in every aspect of his leadership.”
