COVID -19: Coscharis scales down Lagos operations, urges customers, stakeholders to comply with safety measures

Nigeria’s leading conglomerate, Coscharis Group, has scaled down its operations in Lagos, the commercial nerve centre of the country, in compliance with the recent directive of the State Government as a way of containing the rampaging Coronavirus in the country.

Coscharis Group has also advised its customers, staff and stakeholders to be safety-conscious and comply with laid-down measures and guidelines to curtail the spread of COVID – 19.

The Group has, in addition,  suspended all foreign travels by its staff while advising its foreign partners to stay in their countries for now.

The actions of Coscharis are coming as the global outbreak of the Coronavirus has been declared as a pandemic .

Coscharis Group is therefore urging all its customers, staff and stakeholders not to panic but take precautionary and safety measures as instructed by WHO and the Nigerian Centre for Diseases Control.

A statement issued on Wednesday by the Group’s General Manager, Marketing and Corporate Communications , Abiona Babarinde, quoted the President of Coscharis Group, Dr. Cosmas Maduka, as saying,  ‘’ We have been following with great details the global developments as it relates to the Covid – 19 health situation which is really unprecedented and has brought the whole world to a standstill.

“As it is, as a responsible corporate entity, we are heeding to government and the health institutions’ advice to ensure the safety of our assets who are our staff and all our entire stakeholders. We have put in place critical safety precautions in line with required guidelines across all our facilities and business concerns.

“In line with the Lagos State Governor’s directives, all our Lagos based offices have been directed to drastically scale down number of their staff that will be coming to the office to achieve the required social distance directives while others work from home to be able to continually deliver value for all our stakeholders.”

According to Coscharis Group, some of the measures already put in place include hand – held scanners to check the temperature of all visitors and staff coming in and out of all its facilities as well as automatic and manual dispensers in all touch points within all Coscharis locations.

Others are consistent cleaning of critical areas of all the company’s buildings where human traffic occurs.

“Likewise, all offshore business trips for staff has been put on hold while the foreign partners have equally been advised to stay in their various countries for the period till further notice.

“During this challenging period, while we would be exploring options that will reduce to the barest minimum of any physical engagements except where it is extremely necessary with limited number of human interaction, we encourage our customers and stakeholders to utilise other platforms like telephones, emails and our website as credible options to engage for our services.,” the statement added.

Maintaining that Coscharis Group stands by all the efforts of the government to control the spread of the rampaging virus and encourages every citizens and foreigners alike to remain responsible, Coscharis said it believes that “this is just a phase that will soon fade away in our lifetime.”
