In a deal facilitated and brokered by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) ably led by its Director General, Otunba Segun Awolowo, a major breakthrough for an inroad into the West African regional market came on Wednesday for Innoson Motors Nigeria.
This is as the Mayor of Bamako, Mr. Harimakan Keita, led a delegation from Mali to Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, Nnewi, Imo State on a facility tour which culminated in an order to purchase about 400 units of vehicles from the company. The deal is considered as a major boost for Nigeria’s export drive and the first of its kind in the history of Nigeria’s automobile industry which is currently struggling for survival due to low sales and non-patronage by the government.
The delegation was received by the Chairman of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Co Ltd, Chief Innocent Chukwuma and a Memorandum of Understanding with Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing was signed at the end of the visit for the supply of about 400 Innoson IVM vehicles that will be exported to Mali.
The Malian delegation also included The Charge D’ affaires, Nigerian Embassy, Mali, Zayyad Abdusalami; Minister of Employment and Professional Training Mali, Director of Regulation Urban Transport of Bamako, CEO of TAXI Plus Mali, CEO GINCO Group Mali.
The delegation had earlier paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Mr. Patrick Enelama.
