Police arrest 29 suspected carjackers, recover 12 cars

The Special Tactical Squad of the Nigerian Police on Friday said it has arrested 29 suspected carjackers from different states across the country and recovered 12 vehicles in the process.

The arrests, according to a statement signed by the Force Public relations officer, DCP Don N. Awunah, followed a crackdown ordered by the Inspector General of Police,  Ibrahim K. Idris, after being inundated by reports of car thefts and removal of vehicles from where they were parked by unidentified people, nationwide.

Awunah, who said the IGP has ordered that the operation will be sustained to cover the entire country, asked Nigerians who have lost their vehicles to check the recovered ones now parked at the IGP Special Tactical Squad on Heinous Crime facility at SARS premises old Abattoir Guzape District, Abuja.
