Dara Khosrowshashi is Uber’s new CEO

Uber now has a new CEO. Dara Khosrowshashi, the chief executive of Expedia, has been chosen to lead the company, according to a report this Monday by Financial Times, quoting sources close to the company. His choice by the eight-man Board of the company, according to the report,  has now ended what appeared to be an endless search for a new helmsman following the exit of former CEO Travis Kalanick in June.

On Sunday, a leading candidate for the top job, former GE chief, Jeff Immelt, shocked everybody with his announcement that he was no longer interested in the job.

In his Twitter handle, Sunday evening, Immelt said: “I have decided not to pursue a leadership position at Uber. I have immense respect for the company & founders – Travis, Garrett and Ryan.” He did not give any reason for his decision.
