Tiger Wheel & Tyre has assured motorists in South Africa that bending a wheel on a pothole or dinging it on a kerb need not mean the end of the road for that wheel and its owner’s budget as several of its stores offer on-site Wheel CollisionT repair, while select others will send wheels away for repair. The leading South African wheel and tyre store chain explained that the wheel – and budget-saving service can be accessed through its partnership with leading wheel repair firm, Wheel CollisionT.

“Given the state of our roads, we see a lot of customers come in thinking that replacement is the only option for a damaged wheel, and they’re always thrilled when they learn that the wheel can, in fact, be repaired,”  Group Marketing Executive, Joe du Plooy, said. “By partnering with Wheel CollisionT, we’re able to deliver to our customers a quality service that employs world-class technology to repair wheels to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards.”

The company said on-site express wheel repair services are offered at Tiger Wheel & Tyre stores in Boksburg, Fourways, Melrose, Pretoria (Skinner St), Vanderbijlpark (CBD) and Westgate, in Gauteng, stressing that at select other stores, nationwide, customers can drop off their wheels to be sent off for repairs, which will be effected within two to five days.

“Original equipment alloy wheels can be difficult to replace, while aftermarket wheels represent a large investment on the part of the buyer; one that is nevertheless justifiable based on their ability to elevate the appearance of vehicle, making it look either sleeker and more sophisticated, or more dominant and aggressive. What’s not justifiable is having to replace any wheel – whether OE or aftermarket – at full price when you ding or dent it. Worse still, are instances where customers can’t replace a damaged wheel at all because that particular model has been discontinued, ” du Plooy added.

The Wheel CollisionT services on offer, according to a statement issued by Tiger Wheel & Tyre, include wheel straightening, custom paint finishing, powder coating, diamond finishing, and polishing. It added that before work commences on each wheel, it will be X-rayed to detect any hairline fractures, stressing that wheel repairs are moreover SABS ISO 9001 accredited and backed by a lifetime warranty on workmanship.
