Lagos appoints new Managing Director for LAMATA

The Lagos State Government has appointed a new Managing Director for Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA). The new MD is Engr. Abiodun Dabiri , who until his appointment, was the Head of Procurement at the Authority.

His appointment as the substantive Managing Director of the Authority, according to a statement signed Monday by the External Relations Specialist, LAMATA, Mr. Kolawole Ojelabi,has been approved by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.

Dabiri’s appointment comes about a year after the pioneer Managing Director, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, was named the State Commissioner for Transportation.

The new Managing Director is adept in general organisational management, procurement management, project management and operational contract management.

He graduated with a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Lagos and had at various times worked at the Lagos State Water Corporation, Nitoks Consultants Limited, WK Construction – Fechrad JV before joining LAMATA in 2008.

According to the statement, Dabiri’s appointment comes at a time LAMATA is being positioned for the implementation of the Lagos Strategic Transport Master Plan Project Phase 1 which envisions a network of bus, rail and water-based rapid transport system serving strategic activity centres across the state.
