General Motors Honours Dealers for Excellent Customer Service

Dealers in the General Motors South Africa (GMSA) dealer network who uphold the high standards expected of a dealership were honoured recently during the GMSA Departmental Honours Awards.

The aim of the awards is to recognise dealers who continuously raise the level of customer service and not only meet, but exceed the standards expected of a dealership across all five functional departments, that is- sales, services, finance, parts wholesale and retail and used vehicle sales.

In a statement obtained by AUTO REPORT AFRICA, Brian Olson, Vice President, Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing, said all departments are measured against set targets and have to pass a series of mandatory tests in order to be recognised as an honours qualifier.

“The pinnacle of the achievement is to be awarded Department of the Year. There is only one such achiever for each functional department in the whole network of 133 dealers across Southern Africa.

“Putting the customers of Chevrolet, Opel and Isuzu at the centre of everything we do is one of our key business priorities. We therefore honour and recognise those dealer staff who demonstrate a customer-centric culture throughout the customer’s purchasing and after sales experience,” said Olson.

He added that GMSA is reinforcing its commitment to continuously improve its dealer network in South Africa stressing that all GMSA service centres are equipped with a complete range of tools and analytical systems to carry out maintenance and repairs.

Those who emerged victorious were:

  • Michael Johnson, New Vehicle Sales Department of the Year. CMH East Rand.
  • Ashwin Ramdulharie, Service Department of the Year. Bates Port Shepstone.
  • Terry Nel, Financial Department of the Year. Westvaal Mashishing.
  • Riaan du Plessis, Parts Wholesaler of the Year. Imperial GM Bloemfontein.
  • Michael Morris, Parts Department of the Year. Key Durban.
  • Peter Wilkinson, G2 Certified Used Vehicle Department of the Year. Weskaap Motors.

“We have seen tremendous competitiveness, co-operation and teamwork throughout our dealer network in pursuit of qualifying for the awards. The real value of the awards becomes apparent when you notice the sense of pride when a department in the dealership receives the coveted award and how proud they are to be recognised in front of their peers,” Olson said.
