Mitsubishi Motors South Africa has taken customer feedback to the extreme with the launch of a thrilling and very limited edition of the popular Mitsubishi Triton Xtreme, available in limited numbers in 4×4 and 4×2 double-cab body styles.

A personalised bakkie, with a host of additional practical equipment offering outstanding added value, as well as looking the part, the latest Xtreme Limited Edition from the Mitsubishi family caters to the needs and requirements of bakkie buyers who want to stand out from the crowd and be unlike most other drivers in their everyday bakkies.

“This Xtreme Limited Edition is a local development, based on customer research from the launch of the new Triton earlier this year,” Nic Campbell, General Manager of Mitsubishi Motors South Africa (MMSA), said. “With this new limited edition derivative, we offer traditional bakkie lovers a customised bakkie developed to their personal taste.”

The new Triton Xtreme Limited Edition has its own, unique personality and adds massive value in the form of over R60 000 worth of additional features and accessories as part of the distinctive body kit. However, this factory-installed body kit will cost buyers a mere R20 000 more than the listed retail price of the standard Triton double-cab derivative it is fitted to.

“The bold design of this special edition body kit does not only offer a distinctive look, but it also makes the strapping Triton Xtreme stand out in a crowd of macho-looking bakkie rivals,” said Campbell. “Present-day bakkies, with their car-like drivability and passenger-car comfort, define the standing of the modern-day double-cab bakkie owner because of the multiple lifestyle and practical benefits of its versatile body style configuration.

“Triton is known for offering a lot of added-value with many additional features included at no cost as part of its standard specifications level. Offering a new bakkie owner a customised, limited edition bakkie with a high level of standard specification included in the base retail price, lets the Triton Xtreme not only stand out as an extreme physical competitor, but also a great value purchase.”

The Triton Xtreme is the ideal vehicle to grab up now before the rush to dealerships ahead of the upcoming holiday season, Campbell stressed.

“Many of the items included in the Triton Xtreme Limited Edition package, such as the exclusive black and chrome alloy wheels, usually are the first accessories new buyers fit to their bakkies,” he said, adding that it now is part and parcel of the exciting new limited-edition package.

“The Xtreme brand was first introduced in the middle 1990s as part of the popular Colt bakkie range. Since then it has become synonymous with Mitsubishi bakkies and sought-after limited-edition products in our brand’s product range. This year’s Triton Xtreme Limited Edition is the fourth time the Xtreme brand has been employed to customise a limited number of bakkies for the extremely discerning bakkie driver.”

With its class-leading, all-new 2.4-litre MIVEC turbo diesel engine kicking up a storm with 133 kW at 3 500 rpm and peak torque of 430 Nm at 2 500 rpm which is usually only found in bigger capacity diesel-engine competitors, the unique body-styling kit and aggressive new stance because of the impudent black and chrome alloy wheels fitted with all-terrain tyres make the latest Triton Xtreme Limited Edition the ideal bakkie to be seen in during everyday adventures.

Apart from letting the Triton Xtreme bakkie stand out from the crowd, the imported body kit offers additional protection for high-risk components such as the front and rear lights, the grille and bonnet, wheel arches and tailgate, protecting it against superficial damage on off-road excursions.

The Xtreme Limited Edition package comprises of the body styling kit which protects the key areas of the bakkie, as well as additional practical accessories to enhance the already good looks and versatility of the new Triton – all at a fraction of the price compared to that of the individual items used to spruce up this limited edition.

The Triton Xtreme Limited Edition derivatives boast a factory-fitted body kit including:

Bonnet guards

Grille and fog lamp covers

Front and rear light guards

Wheel arch covers

Front and rear door handle protection covers

Triton branded scuff plates

Heavy-duty rubber mats

The Triton Xtreme Limited Edition is available in 4×2 and 4×4 double-cab configuration with the 4×4 derivatives available in manual- and automatic transmission.

“The Xtreme package includes some of the highest-cost additions new owners often opt for when they order their new vehicles, but now form part of the latest special-edition Triton Xtreme Double Cab at a fraction of the cost,” Campbell maintained. “All fitments are done and quality-checked by Mitsubishi SA, using imported body kits, which means all the additional Xtreme accessories are covered by the original manufacturer’s factory warranty.”
