2015 NAJA AWARDS : KIA RIO EMERGES ‘CAR OF THE YEAR’

KIA RIO, Thursday night, emerged the Nigeria’s ‘Car of The Year’ at the 2015 Nigeria Auto Journalists Association (NAJA) Awards, which held at the prestigious Eko Hotels and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos.

NAJA is a group of journalists who write about the automotive sector, especially in Nigeria and Africa with membership cutting across the print, electronic and online media.

At the prestigious awards ceremony, KIA RIO was adjudged winner by the panel of judges for its affordability and popularity among Nigerians as it beat Peugeot 301, Nissan Almera and Toyota Corolla to win the coveted award.

The ‘Luxury Sedan of the Year’ award went to Mercedes Benz S class while Peugeot won the award for the ‘Car Company of the Year.’

The A-class event, which had the Corps Marshall of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), represented by Asst. Corps Marshall and Zonal Commander, Charles Nseobong Akpabio, as chairman, was also attended by the Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Engr. Aminu Jalal as well as chief executives and top managers of leading automobile companies in the country.

  7. Light Truck of the Year – Mitsubishi Canter
  8. Truck Brand of the Year – Mercedes Benz
  9. Mini Bus of the Year – Toyota Hiace
  10. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Award – Boulos Enterprises Suzuki

11.New Entrant of the Year – JAC

  1. Tyre Brand of the Year – Pirelli
  2. Showroom of the Year – Nissan, Victoria Island
  3. SUV of the Year – Toyota Land Cruiser Prado
  4. Pick-up of the Year – Toyota Hilux
  5. Auto Workshop of the Year – Elizade Toyota
  6. Luxury SUV of the Year – Range Rover
  7. Auto Assembly Plant of the Year – Stallion
  8. Indigenous Auto Assembly of the Year – Innoson
  9. Most Enterprising Auto Dealership – Briscoe
  10. Motor Body Builder of the Year – Iron Products Industries (IPI) Limited.
